Thomas Gallaher opened his first business in 1857, when he was 17 years old, making and selling Irish roll pipe tobaccos. Now, fine quality tobacco is the major component of all Gallaher's products. The unique properties of each type of tobacco depend on particular seed types, soils, growing climates, harvesting and curing techniques. The most spread types of tobacco used in Gallaher's products are Virginia, Burley and Maryland. Sovereign is one of their most famous cigarette brands. The varieties of Sovereign cigarettes are: Sovereign (10's and 20's) Sovereign Lights (20's, same design but with a very attractive silver background. They have air holes in the filters) and you may also find Sovereign 'Classics' which have a gold background. The cigarette is made of cured tobacco leaves enclosed into paper with a filter attached. |
